17th International Ñonference “Crimea 2010” 14.06.2010

 

07 – 11 June 2010 in the city of Soudak, there took place one of the greatest international forums in the sphere of world library and information business – 17th International conference “Crimea 2010”. The conference was devoted to the subject of “Role of libraries in raising the level of information culture and preserving cultural heritage today”.
As a rule, conference often deals with the problems of digital libraries and corporate library and information systems, and also with problems of modern library science and computer technology. Thus, the representatives of the Russian State Library organized a special section and school – seminar devoted to digital libraries.
08.06.2010 there was held the section of the RSL “Digital Libraries”, within the framework of which there were made 24 reports by representatives of libraries, higher education institutions, publishing houses and different companies of the Russian Federation, Germany, Great Britain and the countries of the CIS.
The event was started by the report of Director General of the RSL Alexander Visly “Digital Future of National Libraries”. The head manager of the project “Digital Dissertation Library of the Russian State Library” Nina Avdeeva spoke about the history of development of the project “DDL RSL” and main statistics of its work. She also introduced the new service of the RSL – testing texts against plagiarism using collection of the DDL RSL and software “Anti – plagiarism”.
10.06.2010 representatives of the RSL held a school – seminar “Digital Dissertation Library. Anti – plagiarism”, which gathered the audience of about 60 representatives of national libraries, higher education institutions and business companies from Russia and abroad.
Alexander Visly greeted the audience. In his speech he highlighted the main aspects of work with digital resources of the RSL.
The honourable guests of the school – seminar – the representatives of the companies – agents of the RSL at the territories of the Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Europe and the USA – spoke about peculiarities of access to the DDL RSL at the territories of their countries, as well as about appearing problems and their possible solutions.
Within the framework of the school – seminar Nina Avdeeva gave a speech on “Basic directions of work and aims of the project of DDL RSL; conditions of access to the digital resources of the RSL” and made a presentation of the new service of the RSL – testing texts against plagiarism using collection of the DDL RSL and software “Anti – plagiarism”. Besides, she introduced the system “Scientific Search”.
Coordinator of the project “Digital Dissertation Library of the Russian State Library” Chemodanova Olga Vladimirovna demonstrated work of search engine of the DDL RSL and of software for safe paged document viewing DefView.
Participation of the Russian State Library in the conference “Crimea 2010” gave them an opportunity to share knowledge and experience in the sphere of development of digital libraries , and also to set contacts with representatives of different organizations for further fruitful collaboration.
