1 – 6 September 2010, within the framework of the exhibition – conference “Knigabyte” which was held at the 23^rd Moscow International Book Fair, there was organized a Virtual Reading Room of the Digital Dissertation Library of the Russian State Library (DDL RSL).

At the Virtual Reading Room which was composed of six workstations, visitors could access not only the full texts of dissertations and author’s abstracts of the Digital Dissertation Library of the RSL, but also the sources in the Old Slavonic language, documents on the history and culture of Russia and music stored at the Digital Library of the RSL.

There were also offered individual consultations on the capabilities of search and work with full – textual documents, too.

The RSL specialists gave detailed information on documents and the very process of connection to the DDL RSL to those representatives of public libraries and higher education institutions who got interested in starting Virtual Reading Rooms of the RSL at the territories of the libraries of their organizations.

3 September 2010, the Russian Association of Digital Libraries together with the Federal Press and Mass Communications Agency and information and analytical journal “University Book” organized an interactive seminar “Publishers, Aggregating Agents and Libraries: from Confrontation to Communication”. The seminar was devoted to the latest tendencies of development of the market of electronic aggregating agents, principles of choice and spreading electronic content, and systems of information protection.

Within the framework of session “Aggregation of National Dimensions”, there were presented reports by the director general of the RSL Alexander Visly and deputy executive director of the RSL Oleg MaKhno.

At the “Aggregating Agents – Libraries” session, the head of the Department of Support of Access to Digital Resources and head manager of the DDL RSL project RSL Nina Avdeeva presented her report.

The interactive seminar turned out to be the matter of great interest among the visitors of the exhibition. It was a successful start for a fruitful cooperation of the Russian Association of Digital Libraries and the "University Book" information and analytical journal in the sphere of holding cultural events.
