13 – 15 October 2010, the representatives of the Russian State Library took part in the 2^nd International forum “Problems of Development of Information Society” which was held at the Ukrainian Institute for Scientific, Technical and Economic Information in the city of Kiev (the Ukraine).

– national and international programmes of providing access to the information resources of public, scientific, special and university libraries; their achievements and problems;

– creating and using digital resources, digital libraries, document archives and systems of electronic delivery of documents;

– techniques of creating and spreading electronic journals and electronic books;

– open access to information: developing institutional repositories and journals of open access;

– analytical instruments of assessment of the Ukrainian science and education; bibliometrical analysis;

– automation in libraries and information centres;

– predicting priorities of scientific and technical development;

– development of the latest information and communication technologies;

– information support of the process of transferring innovation technologies;

– scientific editions as a channel for free exchange of knowledge resources in innovative systems.

13 September 2010, there took place a plenary meeting where the director of the non – commercial partnership “Digital Libraries” Igor Gruzdev presented a report “Russian Association of Digital Libraries”, in which he gave details on the main aims of the association as well as on the structure of the projects realized by the association and their scientific and practical significance.

Head manager of the “Digital Dissertation Library of the Russian State Library” project Nina Avdeeva in her report “Digital Dissertation Library of the Russian State Library as the main source for science and education” showed the stages of development and statistics of the project. She also spoke on the system for safe paged document viewing DefView and presented the new RSL service “Testing texts for plagiarism against the DDL RSL using the system of Antiplagiat”.

Within the framework of forum “Problems of Development of Information Society” there was organized a specialized exhibition. At the exhibition the representatives of the Russian State Library exposed a stand devoted to the project of “Digital Dissertation Library of the Russian State Library”, where visitors could get to know the main stages of development of the project and also to receive information about the rules and capabilities of access to Digital Dissertation Library of the RSL.
