E. Lindeman
Conference “Crimea 2011” was marked as generous with specialized discussions and seminars. Among most popular discussion groups could be mentioned “Blogs of libraries and librarians – things at present and in prospects”. The discussion group was held by the Ural State University together with RNPLST. The main organizer was Elena Lindeman, deputy director general of the RNPLST in library and information service.
I. Zassoursky
President of the Association of webpublishers I. Zassoursky was one of the participants. There were discussed such matters as the role of blogs in general, organizational and technological basis for maintaining blogs, some particular blogs, prospects of the sphere of library blogs, the role of social networks and their connections with blogs. The speaker pointed out that it could be useful to promote blogs with the help of links in social networks, and that libraries should be represented in that network shere. By the way, the blogs on website www.aselibrary.ru, which were also maintained by the specialists of the RSL, turned out to be valuable for libraries and higher education establishments of culture. This interesting fact cropped up in course of the discussion and after it.
Then, a whole range of events was dedicated to legal questions, and also to the problems of staff trainings for libraries. As for staff, there was such an impression that in the present economic conditions, motivation of students of cultural institutions was too weak to be inspired by any of the new methods of teaching. With special textbooks (either printed or electronic), the situation was found to be even worse than expected. The discussions on these matters led to no positive conclusions.
A. Poltorykhin
While the conference was under way, Artiom Poltorikhin organized video recording of the following events: section “Digital libraries”, discussion “Libraries: automation on the basis of radiofrequency identification” and discussion group “Blogs of libraries and librarians – things at present and in prospects”. The recordings were timely digitized, and the materials were posted on the www.aselibrary.ru website with delay less than 4 – 5 hours. Varvara Osipova, editor of the website of the Russian Association of Digital Libraries, was responsible for editing and placing information concerning the conference on the website.

In future, annual “Crimea” conferences are likely to further adoption of modern technologies in the spheres of culture and education, to help in solving the problems of cooperation between state and commercial structures in preserving cultural heritage of Russia, as well as in working out the concept of informatization of culture.
