As a step towards improvement of work of virtual reading rooms of the Russian State Library, in the nearest future there is planned the transfer to a new software for viewing full texts of dissertations and author’s abstracts from DDL RSL. “DVS” is a system specially developed for viewing electronic documents in the protected mode.

1. “DVS” does not require installation of any specialized software at user’s computers. This simplifies considerably adding new workplaces and replacement of the expired equipment. Among its other positive effects not the least is flexibility of organization of system of workplaces in the reading room, for users would be able to work at any of its computers.
2. All the operations in the “DVS” system are carried out on the server. Such realization of the system minimizes the list of requirements to the hardware of user’s computers.
3. “DVS” works at the computer with any kind of operating system, pad or mobile device. The only requirements to the software would be an Internet browser and a flash - player.
4. The “DVS” system contains search integrated, and this also makes user’s work more comfortable: they search for the documents they need and view those documents in one and the same information milieu, with the like elements of interface.
5. “DVS” is integrated with the common base of users of the RSL. Users authorized in the “DVS” can access all the information resources of the RSL without any additional authorization procedure.
6. In “DVS” there has been realized a capability to maintain user’s profiles. Users themselves can set the password convenient for them, and this password will be used for accessing all the information resources of the RSL.
7. “DVS” is characterized as possessing a convenient mechanism of storing the selected information. Users can put the documents they need (in full or their separate pages) into the “Selected documents” part and view those documents without any other searches.
