The following specialists of the Russian State Library were invited as guests of importance: Nina Vladimirovna Avdeeva, head of the Administrative department of management and monitoring service for clients, Tatyana Alexandrovna Blinova, head of the Department of prospective development, and Irina Valeryevna Sus, head specialist of the Sector of document study.

 

Ms Avdeeva presented to the audience her speech “Principles of preparation and presentation of scientific publications and their informational support” (prepared in cooperation with G.A.Lobanova and I.V.Sus). The two – hour report was devoted to such up- to –date topics as: 

 

• New technologies of the RSL for serving readers;

 

• Preparing articles and scientific papers with informational resources of the Digital Library of the RSL;

 

• Copyright and software applied by the RSL specialists for revealing plagiarisms in scientific papers and publications;

 

• Demands scientific papers are to meet, and order of preparation articles and dissertation theses.

 

The seminar was attended by teachers and lecturers of the IE RAS, researchers and post – graduates. The speech over, Nina Vlaimirovna and her colleagues answered questions concerning informational capabilities the RSL possesses. Lively response and hot discussions were aroused by such themes as peculiarities of plagiarism tests for scientific papers and independence of the results of such expertise. The audience would be as well interested in technical capabilities of the automated systems used for plagiarism tests, in the human – factor influence on the quality of the tests, and in how to mark quotations and make authorizations correctly in scientific publications and qualification papers.
