The Russian State Library continues broadening the network of its virtual reading rooms for providing advanced capabilities for work with the RSL electronic resources, fostering book and reading, promoting the Russian language and culture within the borders of the Russian Federation and far beyond.
Thus, this May a new virtual reading room of the Russian State Library was launched at the Research and technical library of the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov (Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic). The Razzakov University had been founded in 1954 as Frunze Polytechnic Institute. For more than 35 years it remained the only technical establishment of higher education at the territory of the Kyrgyz SSR. Nowadays it is a modern university educating youth in several spheres, that including engineering and technical sciences, and economics. It can boast of over 11 thousand students and Masters, more than 100 postgraduate students. The staff includes approximately 1300 specialists among which there are 56 PhDs and professors and 160 candidates of sciences and assistant professors.
The university library is a quickly developing research and information system providing information and methodology support for education and science. Its collections count about 509 thousand books and manuals, methodology textbooks, research and popular journals. The number of its users approaches 17 thousand people.
