October 23 – 25, 2024, there is being held 8^th inter-disciplinary conference ”Rare Books in Terms of Preservation” organized by the M.I. Rudomino All-Russia Library for Foreign Literature supported by Russian Library Association.

Professionals of library sphere, of museums and archives and restorers from 20 regions of Russia and from abroad are gathering together to discuss problems of preservation of cultural heritage and making it accessible for wider circles of users. They will also consider principles of arrangement and study of collections of rare and valuable documents, they will touch upon applied aspects of job of the restorers of 21^st century. Finally, methods of conservation and restoration will be described and the experience shared, with mentioning purely scientific issues of theory and actual restoration workflows. A point of a particular attention is planned to be the collections of periodicals.

Besides within the framework of the conference there is going to be conducted the ceremony of awarding laureates of contest “Creating the future by preserving the past”.
