The ceremony of opening Virtual Reading Room of RSL at the research library of Sevastopol National Technical University 13.02.2012

8th February 2012, at the research library of Sevastopol National Technical University (SevNTU) there took place the ceremony of opening a Virtual Reading Room of the Digital Dissertation Library of the Russian State Library (VRR RSL).
The research library of Sevastopol National Technical University is one of the biggest libraries of the higher education institutions of all the Crimea and all the Ukraine; it also represents a centre of culture and education.
The collection of the library counts about 1 million 200 thousand volumes. More than 10 thousand readers are served annually, and more than 700 thousand books and magazines are handed. The library possesses 6 specialized reading rooms and 1 universal reading room, too (all in all 400 places); it can boast of 3 lending departments, a department of acquisition and processing literature, an information and bibliographical department, a book – storing department and a department of scientific and technical documents.
Within the framework of the ceremony of opening the VRR there were planned the following speeches: one by the head of the administrative department of managing and monitoring service for clients of the RSL and head manager of the DDL RSL project Nina Avdeeva, and the other one by the head of the department of support of access to digital resources of the RSL and coordinator of the DDL RSL project Olga Nikulina. Unfortunately, weather restrained them from going to Sevastopol, but the ceremony of opening the VRR did take place. It was conducted by the official representative of the RSL in the Ukraine Victoria Chech (an employee of LLC Informatio – Consortium).

The ceremony was opened by the greeting word of Eugeniy Pashkov, rector of SevNTU. Besides, the director general of the RSL Alexander Visly broadcasted his speech on the history of the DDL RSL and problems of getting open access to full texts of dissertations within the framework of modern legislation.
V. Chech's speaking
Victoria Chech presented the speeches of the representatives of the RSL and acquainted the audience with the stages of development of the DDL RSL, rules of organization and getting access to the resource, and also with the software used for accessing the DDL RSL collections.
The second part of the ceremony included seminar “Information supply for the processes of education and scientific research in modern university”. The seminar was organized by the staff members of Sevastopol National Technical University and LLC “Informatio – Consortium”.
At the seminar the director of the scientific library SevNTU Natalia Rzhevtseva reported on the consultation and information centre for creation and usage of scientific digital resources of the Crimea.
Victoria Chech spoke on the software offered to support researching and educational processes in higher education institutions, and also on the problems of Copyright arising with creation and usage of digital resources.

Derugina (Sevastopol), CSL for adults named after L. Tolstoy (Sevastopol), the Central Children’s Library named after A. Gaidar (Sevastopol), the Sea Library of the OH ChN (Sevastopol),the Medical Library (Sevastopol), IO “Taurida – Electrician” (Sevastopol).
Summing up, we are glad to admit that now all the readers of the scientific library of Sevastopol National Technical University can enjoy open access to the priceless scientific knowledge contained in the full texts of the Digital Dissertation Library of the Russian State Library.
