The 20th Jubilee International Conference “Crimea 2013” 17.06.2013

8 – 16 June 2013 in the city of Sudak (Crimea, the Ukraine) there took place the Twentieth Jubilee Scientific and Practical Conference “Crimea 2013”. The theme of the conference was “20th anniversary of the “Crimea” conference – results and prospects of integration and cooperation of libraries and information technology”.
The “Crimea” conference is a world professional forum for specialists and directors of libraries, publishing houses, book selling and book spreading organizations, museums, archives, information centres, universities, technical colleges, computer and Internet companies, business structures, lawyers, specialists of science, culture and education.
At the Twentieth jubilee international conference “Crimea 2013” the following themes were discussed:
– World information infrastructure, inter – library cooperation and projects of international cooperation;
– National libraries and national information resource;
– Forming and preserving collections. Cooperation of libraries, publishers and book market;
– Online technologies, CD-ROM, electronic editions and Internet in libraries;
– Electronic libraries and electronic resources. Electronic education;
– Automated library systems and information technologies;
– Problems of forming library collections in national languages;
– Libraries, museums and archives within the common space of information and art;
– Legal information. Official publications. Copyright and intellectual property;
– Innovations in science, culture and education – the role of libraries.
 
 11 and 13 June 2013 within the framework of the “Crimea 2013” conference there was organized the joint section of the Russian State Library and the Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology “Electronic libraries and online resources in the modern library and information world”.
The section was composed of four sessions. 11 June 2013 the first two sessions were devoted to main questions of creation, support and development of electronic libraries based on the experience of different organizations. There were also viewed new technologies for electronic libraries and collections.
The sessions of 13 June 2013 were devoted to modern systems and services, as well as to Internet technologies for libraries. The participants exchanged experience of usage of such technologies in leading libraries and universities in Russia and abroad.
Within the framework of the section there was hold discussion “Problems of open access” where base speeches were presented by the representatives of the university of the South – African Republic, the “Ex Libris” company, the “Elzevir” publishing house and the National electronic and information consortium (NEIKON).
