Twenty – first international conference “Crimea 2014” 18.06.2014
 
7 – 15 June 2014 the city of Sudak (Crimea) hosted the twenty – first international conference “Crimea 2014”: “Libraries and information resources in the modern world of science, culture, education and business”.
The “Crimea” conference is a world professional forum for heads and specialists of libraries, publishing houses, book – selling and book – spreading organizations, as well as of museums, archives, information centres, universities, professional colleges, computer and internet companies, business, law, establishments of science, culture and education.
The conference highlighted latest achievements in the spheres of library and information infrastructure, education, book market, legal aspects of information activity, future of e – books and international cooperation in the domain of education, science and culture on the whole.
The theme of the conference 2014 was stated as “A new library and a new reader in the new information and communication milieu of 21 century”. This year there was emphasized consolidation of professional relations of Russia and establishments of science, culture and education of the Republic of Crimea and of Sevastopol.
Over one hundred events were held during those 5 working days (9 – 13 June), this including 14 thematic sections, and also discussions, seminars, trainings and tutorials, creative meetings and intellectual duels. Over 400 speeches were offered to the audience, with reports, presentations and masterclasses included.
Within the framework of the “Crimea” conference, 10 June 2014 there was organized section “Digital libraries and online resources in the modern library and information environment”. The event gathered representatives of federal and regional libraries, both public and of higher education, as well as developers and aggregators of scientific and educational electronic resources.
The main reports were devoted to the development of digital resources of libraries and organizing access to them for broader audiences. Thus, the director general of the RSL A.I. Visly described project “National Digital Library” and problems it had to face. The head of the Administrative department of management and monitoring service for clients of the RSL N.V. Avdeeva presented achievements and progress of the Digital Library of the RSL, the DVS software, of systems “Antiplagiat.RSL” and “Scientific Search”, of internet store of services of the RSL. The representatives of the Russian National Library spoke on their way towards readers, i.e. about development of a comfortable milieu in the world of remote access and modern information technologies. The technologies applied at the Scientific digital library of the RNPLST, principles of organization and main functions of the web – oriented system DocuShare used for work with electronic documents were the theme of speech presented by K.A. Kolosov, head of the Department of management, designing and analysis of the internet complex. A.V. Zaitsev, a representative of the Presidential Library named after Boris Yeltsin, shared their experience of attracting audiences of the website and cooperating with them.
Within the framework of the conference there was organized a special seminar “Meeting a new software for Virtual reading rooms of the RSL”. N.V. Avdeeva introduced the participants to the subject by reminding them main stages of development of the RSL Digital Dissertation Library project and marking its high level for the moment of its tenth anniversary. The speaker also announced a soon coming collection of scientific works (books, textbooks, monographs, etc.) based on the licence agreements with their authors, which would become available to the RSL readers in the nearest future. O.V. Nikulina, the head of the Department of support of access to digital resources of the RSL, described advantages of new software DVS specially worked out for Virtual reading rooms of the RSL: no need for installation of special programmes; applicability for computers with any of the operating systems, pads or mobile devices; presence of functions of search and viewing documents in one and the same information milieu; accessibility of other service of the library without any additional authorization steps, etc.
